A five-letter guessing game you can play as many times as you like. Every round draws a fresh answer, keeps your streak, and lets you replay a board you lost.
Daily Word
The same puzzle for everyone, rolling over at midnight in your own timezone. Share your result grid without spoiling the answer.
Mini Crossword
A small, hand-checked crossword with a fresh grid each day, arrow-key navigation and a check-square button for when you are stuck.
Letter Drop
Tiles drop in, you spell words to clear them. Longer words clear more. It ends when the tray reaches the top.
Daily versus unlimited
Two of these are daily and two are not, and the difference is the point.
A daily puzzle is shared: everybody gets the same word on the same date, which is what makes a shared result grid mean anything. An unlimited game is solitary — your fourth attempt is nobody else's — but it is also the one you can actually practise on. Daily Word and Mini Crossword are the first kind; Word Quest and Letter Drop are the second.
Where the puzzles come from
Answers for the guessing games are drawn from a pool of common English words, ranked by how often they appear in written text so you are never asked to find something you have not met. Guesses are checked against the full 172,749-word lexicon, so you can type any real word even when it could never be the answer.
The crossword grids are generated from that same word data, and their clues are definitions from a dictionary published in 1913 and long out of copyright. That is a genuine limitation — you will meet the occasional Victorian turn of phrase — and it is the honest alternative to reprinting somebody else's puzzle.
No account, and nothing collected
None of these games ask who you are, and none of them send your play anywhere. Streaks, boards and progress live in your own browser's storage. The cost of that is real: switch device or clear your site data and you start again. The benefit is that there is nothing here to leak.
